Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original scholarly manuscripts relevant to medical and health sciences. Manuscripts may include original articles, review articles, case reports, short communications, commentaries or opinion articles, subject to the journal’s scope and editorial consideration.

All manuscripts must be prepared using the official journal template provided in the submission system and typed in Arial, size 10.5, unless otherwise specified. The template serves as a general guide for different article types; authors may therefore modify or remove sections and headings that are not applicable to their manuscript, where appropriate.

Original research articles should generally follow the structure of Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. Review articles and other article types may use headings and subheadings appropriate to the scope, content, and nature of the manuscript.

Manuscripts should include the relevant components indicated in the template, such as the article title, author names and affiliations, corresponding author details, abstract, keywords, main text, declarations, and references. The corresponding author must be clearly identified and provide a valid email address.

The abstract should not exceed 250 words and should provide a concise summary of the background, aim, methods, main findings, and conclusion, as appropriate to the article type. Authors should provide 3–6 relevant keywords below the abstract

References should follow Vancouver style, as shown in the journal template. In-text citations should be numbered consecutively, and the reference list should be arranged according to the order of citation in the manuscript.

All manuscripts must be original, not previously published and not under consideration by another journal. The editorial office reserves the right to return manuscripts that do not comply with the journal template or submission requirements.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Please confirm that the following items have been completed before submitting your manuscript:

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • The manuscript is within the scope of Al-Hayah: Journal of Medical and Health Sciences.
  • The official journal template has been used.
  • The manuscript is typed using Arial font, size 10.5.

  • Two manuscript files have been prepared:

    1. Full article using the official template without author names and affiliations for review.
    2. Full article using the official template with author names, affiliations and corresponding author details.
  • The abstract and 3 to 6 keywords are included.
  • The manuscript follows the appropriate structure according to article type.
  • Tables and figures are numbered, titled and cited in the text, where applicable.
  • Permission has been obtained for any copyrighted or previously published material, where applicable.
  • Conflict of Interest statement is included.
  • Funding statement is included.
  • Authors’ Contributions statement is included.
  • Data Availability Statement is included, where applicable.
  • Ethics Approval statement is included, where applicable.
  • Declaration on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is included, where applicable.
  • References should be prepared according to Vancouver style, with DOI numbers included for all references where available.
  • All references cited in the text are included in the reference list.
  • The manuscript has been checked for grammar, spelling, plagiarism and formatting consistency.
  • All authors have read and approved the final manuscript.
