Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

The JOURNAL OF INTEGRITY AND ANTI-CORRUPTION (JIA) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows a rigorous peer-review process and adheres to established principles and best practices in scholarly publishing. All parties involved in the publication process, including editors, editorial board members, reviewers, authors, and the publisher, are expected to uphold professional and ethical standards.

1. Editors and Editorial Board

Editors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are evaluated fairly and objectively based on their academic quality, originality, relevance, and contribution to the field. Editorial decisions shall not be influenced by the authors' institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, religion, or other personal characteristics.

Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and declare or manage any potential conflict of interest. Where an editor has a conflict of interest with a submitted manuscript, the manuscript shall be assigned to another qualified editor for independent handling.

2. Reviewers

Reviewers shall provide objective, constructive, confidential, and timely assessments of submitted manuscripts. Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and shall not use unpublished information for personal or professional purposes.

Reviewers are required to disclose any potential conflict of interest and should decline an assignment if they are unable to provide an impartial assessment or do not possess the appropriate expertise.

3. Authors

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, accurately reported, and have not been published or submitted for consideration elsewhere. All sources, ideas, data, and contributions from other works must be appropriately acknowledged and cited.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all listed authors have made significant contributions to the research and have agreed to the final version of the manuscript. Authors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and sources of research funding where applicable.

4. Plagiarism and Research Misconduct

JIA does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other forms of research and publication misconduct. Submitted manuscripts may be subjected to plagiarism and similarity screening.

Where suspected or confirmed misconduct is identified, the journal may take appropriate action, including requesting clarification or correction, rejecting the manuscript, retracting a published article, or informing the relevant institution, depending on the severity of the case.

5. Ethical Approval

Authors conducting research involving human participants, animals, or other research requiring ethical approval must obtain approval from the relevant institutional or research ethics committee and provide the appropriate statement or approval information in the manuscript.

6. Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions

JIA is committed to maintaining the integrity of the published scholarly record. Where significant errors, inaccuracies, or research misconduct are identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, corrigendum, addendum, or retraction, as appropriate.

7. Complaints and Appeals

JIA provides a mechanism for authors and other stakeholders to raise concerns regarding editorial decisions, publication ethics, or the handling of manuscripts. All complaints and appeals will be considered fairly, objectively, and confidentially by the appropriate editorial authority.

JIA is committed to investigating allegations of publication misconduct and taking appropriate action to protect the integrity of the journal and the scholarly record.
